Alan Hansen

During the early 1980s, Hansen’s partnership in Liverpool’s backline with Mark Lawrenson provided the reds one of the best defensive pairings in Europe. Alan Hansen was installed captain of Liverpool in 1985 and by the termination of the 1985-86 season, Hansen was able to take his position in history alongside Danny Banchflower and Frank McLintock as one of three captains to skipper their clubs to the ‘double’ in the twentieth century.
Hansen appeared in the Scottish national side during the 1982 world cup finals and featured a total of twenty six times for his country. In total, Hansen has won 16 major trophies with the Reds.

Bruce Grobbelaar

After a short period in goal for Crewe, Grobbelaar moved to Anfield, and became first choice goal keeper instantly. On his debut at Anfield, Grobbelaar had the crowd in laughter by pulling faces, performing handstands and making extravagant saves. His effort put in to Goalkeeping has made him one of the world’s finest goal keepers of all time. He won six championship league titles, three FA Cups winners’ medals and an array of other honors.

John Aldridge

In March 1984, John Aldridge was hunted by Oxford United and during his three years at the club, he scored a total of 72 league and cup goals and at the same time he helped Oxford to victory in the final of the League Cup (Littlewoods Cup). When he moved to Liverpool in 1987, the Anfield faithful thought that they had signed Ian rush’s copy. During his 83 appearances for Liverpool, Aldridge scored an astonishing 51 goals, to this day one of the best goal scoring ratios ever in English football. In 1989 he moved to Spanish outfit, Real Sociedad and then moved back to Merseyside few years later, this time playing for second division side, Tranmere Rovers.

Peter Beardsley

Beardley played for Liverpool between 1982-1991 and was a favorite with the Reds supporters, his darting runs frightened all defenses and he became an important goal scorer for Liverpool.
It was not until the 1986 world cup finals when Beardsley established himself at the top level. Beardsley scored in the second round encounter against Paraguay and partnered Gary Lineker up front during the world cup. Beardsley was a key part of England’s 1990 world cup squad, playing fantastic football. His most memorable international moment arguably came in a Euro 92 qualification tie against Poland in 1990; he netted a startling goal in the final two minutes of the match securing a 2-0 win for England.
