Robbie Fowler
Fowler is one of the Reds most famous every forwards. During his first spell at the club between 1992- 2001, he scored a staggering 120 goals in 236 appearances, averaging over a goal every two matches. He has been honored as the PFA young player of the year on 2 occasions, 1995 and 1996. After short periods with Leeds and Manchester City he switched back to Liverpool at the start of 2006.
Mark Wright
Wright moved from Derby County to Liverpool in 1991 and became a key member of the first team when joining. He captained Liverpool to FA Cup glory in 1992.
Mark Wright’s astonishing football skill and competitiveness as a centre half earned him the attention of England coach Bobby Robson. He made his first appearance for his nation at the age of twenty in an encounter against Wales. He missed out on the 1986 world cup finals suffering from injury; Having been absent in the qualification matches for Italia 90, Wright fought his way back into the England side, at the expense of Tony Adams. After missing the first match against the Republic of Ireland, Wright played as a sweeper in a match against the Netherlands in a new style England team. In the vital match against Egypt, Wright headed the winning goal to secure England’s place in the second round. As his reputation was enhanced through out the competition, he became a key figure in England’s defense. After Italia 90, Wright starred in the qualification matches for Euro 92. His final appearance for England came in a friendly against Hungary just before Euro 96.
John Barnes
Barnes signed for Liverpool from Watford in 1987 and nearly spent a decade with the Reds; he was remembered for his great goals and tremendous runs at defenses.
Barnes made his international debut coming off the bench against Northern Ireland in 1983. The following year he etched his name on the global football map, scoring a sensational solo goal against Brazil in Rio to earn England their first away victory against the South Americans. His final two tournaments playing football for his nation were disappointing by his standards; he starred for England in Euro 88 and the 1990 world cup finals. Barnes has also scored a few brilliant goals from free kicks for England, memorably against the Dutch in a world cup qualification match in 1992.
Ronny Rosenthal
Rosenthal started his began his career playing for Maccabi Haifa; his performances were so impressive that he earned a high paid move to Club Brugge of Belgium. He spent two seasons at the club, prior moving to Standard Liege of Belgium. His spell in Belgium was very successful, helping Brugge win the league title in 1988 and was a favorite in Belgium. His outstanding performances earned him a move to English Champions, Liverpool, for a well worth £1 Million. He soon became a favorite at Anfield; he helped them win the 1990 league title and went on to become a regular fixture in the Liverpool starting line up. After four seasons at the club he moved down to the South of England, London. He spent 3 years starring for Tottenham. |
